About Scouts

Welcome to the 4th Radlett Scout Troop

Welcome to the 4th Radlett Scout Troop. We are pleased that you want to be a part of a fun, worldwide organisation of over 28 million members which started in 1907.
 
Scouts is not just something you do once a week; it's something you are. Scouts are people who want to live a certain way and display values like caring for others, looking after the planet and having a positive outlook on life.

Scout Application Form

Scout Leaders

Tony is the Scout Leader (SL), and Stuart is the Assistant Scout Scout Leader (ASL). The Group Scout Leader (GSL) is Simon. We are your leaders and are here to help you get the most out of Scouting.
   

Scout Meeting Times

clockScouts usually meet on a Wednesday evening from 7:00pm to 8:30pm.

There will be occasions when we will meet at other places and times; you will be informed of these in advance.
   

Investiture Ceremony

The Investiture ceremony is one of the most important events in a Scout's life and should be treated with respect. It is vital that you are well prepared and aware of the ceremony procedure.

Sometime before the ceremony, your Scout Leader will chat with you about the meaning of the Promise and Law, talk through the ceremony with you and ask if you have any questions.

The ceremony procedure is as follows:

  1. The Troop will be brought to Attention standing at the Alert
  2. Your Patrol Leader will bring you forward to stand in front of the Scout Leader
  3. You will be asked by the Scout Leader if you understand the importance of the Promise and Law and if you wish to formally join the 4th Radlett Scout Troop
  4. The Scout Flag will be lowered
  5. The Scout Leader will place his left hand on the flag and you will place your left hand on the flag
  6. All Scouts and Leaders will make the Scout Sign You will be asked to say the Scout Promise
  7. You will then be presented with your scarf and badges.
  8. Finally, shake the leaders hand (left hand) turn and face the Troop and Salute the Troop; the Troop will salute you back and your Patrol Leader will collect you and take you back to your Patrol.

At your investiture, you will be provided with a 4th Radlett scarf and a plaited leather woggle amongst other items.

Subs

Subs (subscriptions) go towards paying for items such as badges, stationery, equipment and games materials etc.
 
Subs are due at the beginning of each term and paid by by standing order.
